JEAN-GEORGES' "CORK"
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The design was for a new restaurant for the Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant group opening in a new location in Napa Valley, CA. The task was to use the context of the chef, restaurant group, vintners, cuisine / menu, and geographical location to design, curate the artwork, and develop the brand of the restaurant.

CONCEPT BRANDING
The concept behind the design of Cork is to create a familiar feeling of the warm California environment through a diverse layout of seating and schematic exertion of lighting. Cork's overall atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming to the Golden State locals and visitors.

RENDERED FURNITURE PLAN
Since the restaurant is for public use, ADA accessibility and compliance with building codes and regulations is required. All public spaces are ADA accessible, including restrooms and no structural changes were to be made to the building.
The use of various tables and seating throughout the space helps section off the restaurant into areas for specific uses. The back area, being intimate and personal contrasts with the main area being open and spacious.
"The task was to use the context of the chef, restaurant group, vintners, cuisine / menu, and geographical location of the design, curate the artwork, and develop the brand of the restaurant."
HEATHER DAY

"The California based artist makes abstract paintings that are informed by the sensory interpretations bridging the thoughts between what is known and how it is felt. Day creates pieces that represent both profound and mundane situations."
BRIT BASS

The fact that these artists work on opposite coasts and produce similar artwork is what makes them unique. With similar design philosophies, these artists work well together in the same space. Their philosophies of using color and bridging the ideas of what is real and what is felt is the same strategy used throughout my design.
"The Atlanta native is an abstract artist known for her playful paintings full of movement. She is constantly refining her eye for aesthetics and design, and hopes to bring this sense of exploration and curiosity to her current work."

"There was extensive research done of the restaurant groups existing restaurants, menus, and chefs in order to make aesthetic decisions with the space and design a custom chair for the restaurant."
